CTBA (Technical Centre for Wood and Furniture)
was created in 1952, to provide industry with services including research,
studies, testing, certification, standardisation, technical assistance,
consulting, technology watch, training and documentation. CTBA deals
with issues related to wood, from harvesting to end products, and
with furniture issues also including materials other than wood. From
1st June 2007, CTBA merged with AFOCEL to become Technological Institute
FCBA. Now the 350 employees constitute the workforce, located at several
sites in France (furniture department in Paris). As member of European
scientific and networks in their industrial sectors fields, CTBA contributes
to exchanges concerning R&D issues aiming at anticipating industry's
future needs: COST, INNOVAWOOD. CTBA ‘s ”BUREAU NORMALISATION
BOIS ET AMEUBLEMENT” is also the National Standardisation Office
and the National Quality Insurance Organisation for Wood products
and Furniture. FCBA has a large experience of wood and furniture industries
products and processes. CTBA has been working for a long time on innovative
projects as active research performer and is involved in different
European research programs as co-ordinator or partner.
